Senate Passes Gay Marriage Bill; Bill To Move To House Next

sowideasea:

After hours of debate over the past two days, the full Maryland Senate gave final approval to a bill that would grant same-sex couples full marriage rights in Maryland.

Senators voted 25-21 in favor of the bill shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday.

The bill will next move to the House of Delegates for debate.

The measure, if passed by the House and signed by Gov. Martin O’Malley, was amended to include protections for religious groups and institutions to keep them from being forced to participate in gay weddings. [EYEROLL]

The bill would grant the same title and rights to same-sex couples that Maryland allows married straight couples.

If the measure becomes law, Maryland would become the sixth state to approve gay marriages.

I’m kind of disturbed by the very anti-gay slant the WBAL article seems to have. It’s like they mostly talked to opponents, instead of balancing it out. Talking to people blinded by their concept of religion, people who were all, “But what about civil unions,” & of course, people trying to make this about money.

In case nobody told these jokers, there is no such thing as “separate but equal.” In case nobody told them, you know, oh em gee, people who aren’t straight are people too! Oh no! And people deserve simple rights like the right to marry if they so desire.

6/50…that’s like 12%. Now if only the states I want to teach in could take measure like these…

Glee (2-22)— My Opinion

“Bisexual is a term that gay guys in high-school use when they wanna hold hands with girls and feel like a normal person for a change!”
-Kurt, Glee

I found this personally offensive. Had it been from another character, I think it would’ve been less hurtful but because it came from Kurt, the gay guy, I almost changed the channel.

It’s not that I don’t know that people don’t understand bisexuality and mostly think that it doesn’t exist and is a ‘transition phase’ from straight to gay. But what people need to get is that people are attracted to the opposite sex and the same sex in different ways. Ask yourself, have I ever even thought that so-and-so was really hot and then felt wrong because he/she was the same-sex? Maybe it’s the pot calling the kettle black a little, huh?

And one more thing, just because I’m bisexual but have been in a long-term relationship with a woman DOES NOT make me a lesbian!
